
Praised for her “dark tone” and “vibrant musicality” (Calgary Herald), Abigail Rojansky celebrates her thirteenth season as violist and founding member of the Verona Quartet, recipient of the 2020 Cleveland Quartet Award. Having participated in numerous festivals including Chamber Music Northwest, LaJolla SummerFest, the Manchester Summer Chamber Music Festival, Chelsea Music Festival and Bravo! Vail, Abigail has performed across North America and abroad including venues such as Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, Hong Kong City Hall and the Melbourne Recital Hall. Among others, Abigail has performed with Wu Man, Renee Fleming, Ning Fung, Roger Tapping, Charles Neidich, the Pacifica Quartet, the Borromeo Quartet, the East Coast Chamber Orchestra and folk band I’m With Her.Other collaborations include Paul Katz, Merry Peckham, Atar Arad, Kim Kashkashian, Masumi Rostad, Cho-Liang Lin and Orion Weiss.
Abigail’s playing can be heard on the Verona Quartet’s three critically acclaimed albums as well as her recording collaboration with composer Lisa Bloom Cohen released through Nightengale Records Label. Along with the Verona Quartet, Abigail has participated in commissions, premieres and debut recordings of over fifty contemporary works from composers such as Christopher Theofanidis, Texu Kim, Reena Esmail, Sebastian Currier, Cheng Jin Koh, Julia Adolphe and Michael Gilbertson whose “Quartet” written for the Verona Quartet was a a 2017 Pulitzer Prize finalist.
Abigail is currently Assistant Professor of Chamber Music at Oberlin College and Conservatory having joined the faculty in the Fall of 2020. Her many masterclasses worldwide have included destinations such as the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore, the Peabody Institute, University of Texas Butler School of Music, The Hartt School, Dalhousie University Fountain School and Indiana University’s Summer String Academy. As of 2024, Abigail has also been named co-Artistic Director of the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Abigail has garnered more than a dozen prizes from numerous national and international competitions and holds degrees from the New England Conservatory, Juilliard School, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and Oberlin Conservatory having studied with Martha Katz, Atar Arad and Karen Ritscher respectively. Abigail currently resides in Oberlin, Ohio and plays on a contemporary viola made by the acclaimed American luthier William Whedbee.
