ABOUT

FOUNDERS

SAGE COLE AND LORNA TSAI, Manchester and Andover natives respectively, founded MSCM in 2009 as a way to celebrate music and community. As childhood friends, we spent many weeks each summer across the country playing at music festivals and many more weeks each summer enjoying the gorgeous beaches of the North Shore. We decided to combine these joyful experiences and create a music festival on the North Shore where we could share the beauty of the area with our musician friends and the beauty of our friends’ music with our community.

OUR MISSION

Manchester Summer Chamber Music is founded on and dedicated to the belief that classical music is a vibrant and fluid art form that can forge meaningful connections between audiences, musicians, and the beautiful places of the North Shore.  Our mission consists of three inter-related parts:

Music Mission: To present music of the highest caliber that engages both our musicians and our audiences.  We believe that classical music is relevant to all audiences, regardless of their background, and that each concert should demonstrate dynamic programming that speaks to both novice concert goer and professional musician alike.

Community Mission: To foster community collaboration as well as to create connections between the community and our musicians.  We believe that personal connections between musicians and their audience significantly enhance the experience of both performer and audience and elevate the quality of the artistic exchange.

Educational Mission: To share our art and passion in creative presentations that go beyond the confines of a traditional performance.  This includes narrative and lecture performances, collaborations with local schools and other outreach initiatives.
